Commercial Buildings Pipes Freeze, Too
1/2/2025 (Permalink)
Frozen pipes affect all buildings including commercial buildings. Do you know that the first thing your insurance asks us to do is to take a picture of the thermostat on every frozen pipe job we arrive at? If you DO NOT have the heat on in your commercial property, you WILL NOT have insurance coverage for your commercial water damage.
Tips To Avoid Frozen Pipes in Commercial Buildings
- Winterize your pipes by draining outside hose bibs
- Put insulation around exposed pipes in warehouse space that is not heated
- Put water alarms in warehouse space and link that alarm to your alarm system
We have done many commercial frozen pipe losses over the years where the heat is not on and the pipe freezes over night and when the employees show up at the building there is water pouring into the parking lot! We want you to try to avoid that during next week's polar vortex by keeping the heat on in your facility.
A large water damage loss can mean a loss of business operations as usual which means losing money for your business.
