Sadly, this is the time of year we are most busy with fire restoration.  It is cold out, people are using portable heaters, burning candles, and doing a lot of cooking.  

Fire Safety Tips

• Install smoke alarms on every level of your home, inside bedrooms and outside sleeping areas
• Proactively change the fire alarm batteries once a year on New Year's Day
• Make a fire escape plan and practice it twice a year
• Post vinyl stickers on the windows where people or pets are (Amazon)
• Have window ladders for two story houses
• Have fire extinguishers near oven and on each level
• Keep matches, lighters and all ignitables in a secure location out of the reach of children

If a fire occurs in your home, tell your kids to, GET OUT, STAY OUT, and CALL FOR HELP.  Never go back in the house for anything

WHAT TO DO UNTIL WE ARRIVE

• Prioritize safety by staying out of damaged area
• Contact SERVPRO of Dale City and your insurance company
• Document the damage with photos and a video
• Secure the property by closing all windows and doors
• Limit movement within the house to prevent further soot spread
• DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLEAN OR WASH ANYTHING!!!  That is our job and you could worsen the damage of something we could have cleaned had you not attempted to clean it
